Treasurer's Report - Balance of $5036.17

Executive Committee - Discussed website update; Mary Anne and Denise are helping

Membership - Lackawanna Health & Rehab was added as a new member

Education - Went over conference details; brochure is ready to be mailed

Advocacy – 18 to 59 year old consumers may be eligible for some services; budget is a big issue; Home Care agencies must now be licensed

Long Range Planning – Will reach out to Susquehanna and Wayne counties; would like to plan a breakfast for Senior Managers/Supervisors/Housing Managers and deliver packets

Finance – No report

Marketing – Conference committee picture will be taken and submitted to paper

New Business –

Fundraiser for Leo Woelker at Andy Gavin’s on June 4th

Serving Seniors is having their fundraiser at Waldorf Park on June 6th from 3-7

Memory Walk is at PNC Field on October 9th for Luzerne & Lackawanna counties

Memory Walk kick off event is on June 10th from 4:30-6:00

Green Ridge Health Care Center Party on the Patio is July 9th from 5:30-8:30

Carol is hosting a Wayne County meeting on June 17th at 9am at Mallard Meadows

Next Meeting - 9:00am on Thursday, July 15th at Green Ridge Health Care Center

Membership  - VAC and Lackawanna Ambulance were added as new members
 
Education  - Tentative conference date is Wednesday, June 23rd;  we received a $5,000 grant from Work Force Investment;  Terry will check on the pricing at the Clarion;  speaker options were discussed
 
Advocacy – No report
 
Long Range Planning – Jane will call a committee meeting with existing committee members
 
Finance – No report
 
Marketing – New brochures with updated membership list will be available soon;  Conference committee picture will be taken

New Business –
-        Alzheimer’s Association will be holding a conference on May 26th
-        Jennifer Kuzmick is the new administrator at Mallard Meadows
-        Abington Senior Center will hold a Pasta Dinner on April 25th from 12-4
-        This year’s Memory Walk will combine both counties and will be held at PNC field on October 4th

Education- Grant Confirmed; discussed speaker and location possibilities the event will be held on June 17th pending Bertice Barry's availability, Maria will call to confirm. Alice will reach out to Dr. Alessandria of the Medical College and Mary Ann Rubino will reach out to Dr. Roger Cadieux for his availability.

Advocacy- Maria spoke to Teresa who confirmed she or Mary could not attend due to previous conflict but offered to pass along any information as Teresa saw the need.

Long Range Planning- Networking event will be held in the Fall instead of the Spring will hold on any discussion until later in the year.

Finance- Bob and Kathy audit books at the Green Ridge Nursing Home, Audit will be completed by the next meeting.

Marketing- No Report

Speakers- Mary Ann Rubino of Mountain View spoke about the facility and services.

Old Business- No Report

Executive Committee  - Reviewed details of the conference for future planning; good feedback was given on the surveys

                                               

Membership  - 32 paid members to date; please let Layna know if there are any email changes

 

Education  - Mary Ann is waiting on Mountain View to approve a date for the Networking Breakfast; discussed possibly working on obtaining a speaker ahead of time for next year’s conference so we can apply for nursing credits; looking at what the estimated fee per person would be if the grant did not come through and we had to charge

 

Advocacy – No official report; Mary Gaffney contacted  Maria about keeping the meeting times the same

 

Long Range Planning –  No report

 

Finance – There were 25 vendors for the conference;  Bob Vielee did an audit and all is well

 

Marketing – Pictures of the conference committee and presenters made the newspaper

 

Speakers – Corinne from CareGivers America;  Ellen from Green Ridge Health Care Center

-         MTH SM/MH conference at Genetti’s on September 23rd; CEUs available

-         Elan Gardens now offers respite

-         Sylvia is having a basket raffle at Boscov’s; she is looking for basket donations and people to sell the tickets

-         Home Instead Senior care has expanded into Monroe County

-         Alzheimer’s Association received grant funding for their winter family caregiver series

-         Cocktail party at The Willowbrook on August 28th for Serving Seniors

-         Serving Seniors Volunteer Luncheon on September 18th at St. Mary’s Center

-         United House Health Fair on September 25th; contact Ruth at 344-7661

-         Jim Wanczac Health Fair on August 14th at St. Mary’s Center; no charge for tables

-         Mulberry Tower Open House on August 5th at 1pm; contact Judy or Lori at 558-9563

-         Party on the Patio at Green Ridge Health Care Center on July 17th to benefit the American Red Cross

-         Visit caregiversamerica.com for information on receiving Nursing CEUs
